Salvage of cargo ship ‘Violet Ace’ of Nassau
A cargo ship of 200 meters carrying cars, ‘Violet Ace’ of Nassau, went aground in the late afternoon at the mouth of the port of Livorno, having grounded probably due to the strong south-west wind with gusts to 30 knots. The vessel was then released after about two and a half hours from 4 NERI tugs. The operations were coordinated by the Coast Guard. The freighter had run aground on the shallow water outside the channel entrance to the harbor, blocking the entrance to the south.
